To be coached or not to be coached – that is the question…

Hands up if you have ever had some form of coaching? It may have been in work, from your boss or a mentor, or more formalised by hiring a coach to help you move forwards in life? However, for many of us, coaching is something that is still a bit of an unknown.

In my 30 years of corporate life, I had very little mentorship or coaching made available to me. Looking back I can now see how investing a bit of time and energy in coaching, may have really helped me move forwards more quickly to find where I really wanted to be in life. As it is, I followed a self-made path and now have a coach, as a coach, which is fantastic, as well as some amazing mentors.

So what is coaching?

Coaching is something that enhances your ability to learn, make changes, and achieve your desired goals.

It is a thought-provoking and creative process that enables people to make conscious decisions and empowers them to become leaders in their own lives. And being a leader is not about a job title. It is about taking responsibility for your world. It is about understanding the fact that you own what happens to you, not that it happens because of something else! It is that opening up and epiphany moments of self-understanding, and understanding the world and people around you better, to help you move forwards. So why should you consider coaching?

Six benefits of coaching to think about…

  1. Coaching helps people discover what is important to them and what they want. It helps people tap into a greater purpose.
  2. Coaching helps people discover their own solutions. People will be much more committed to a strategy they choose.
  3. Coaching encourages and explores creativity.
  4. Coaching helps people learn from their own experiences. It helps deepen the learning of successes, losses, and failures.
  5. Coaching challenges people to be open to possibilities, break through limiting beliefs, and take intentional action.
  6. Coaching creates a safe and courageous space for growth and experimentation.

For me, being coached has helped give me clarity and focus. I am a big picture thinker, an ideas person, and an entrepreneur to the core. I love change and transformation. I am an ENFP too, which does mean I tend to over-commit myself, get involved too much and so my coach has helped me focus on what is truly important to me, to really hone in on what will help me achieve my big goals. He’s also good to bounce challenges off, which is that fine line between coaching and mentorship.

For my clients, every one of them has different challenges, but one common theme that exists is the limiting beliefs that are holding them back. Then nurturing the confidence to go out and pursue their goals. But once we start working on this we make fast progress. I can’t tell you how rewarding it is as a coach to then see the physical, and mental transformation in each and every one of them. Wow.

But don’t take my word for it, here’s just some of my clients’ feedback:

If you are unsure there are free coaching taster sessions out there so why not give one a go? My WINK Workshops kick off in October. We Kick Off With The First Workshop On Thursday 28th October

The workshops regularly help my clients move forwards and figure out what their ideal career is and to make it happen, so they can have less stress and more happiness. They start to truly understand what makes them amazing, gain the confidence to go out there and grab life and find their true purpose and passion in their career or business.

I hope to see you there … make 2022 your year to move forwards and make the change you so desire.
